The Big Five

Africa's famous Big Five - Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhino and Buffalo. The term was coined by big game hunters for the five most dangerous animals to hunt on foot.

Grazers

From antelope to hippo the herbivores make up the majority of animals in Africa and are the backbone of the ecosystem.

Predators

All animals need food to survive, these predators hunt, catch and eat other animals or scavenge the kills of others.

Primates

Our cousins the primates. The chimpanzees are the closest but all of them share our mischievous nature.

Birds

As varied as mammals, Africa has over 2,600 species of birds each more beautiful than the next.
